Community and Crew Picnic Planned for Sept. 21, 2024:

The USS Beloit Commissioning Committee is excited to announce its upcoming community picnic with crew members of the USS Beloit. The picnic will be held from 12-3pm Saturday, September 21, 2024, at ABC Supply Stadium, 217 Shirland Ave., Beloit.

This free, family-friendly event promises an afternoon of fun, food, and festivities, aimed at bringing together local residents and the crew members to build relationships as the crew prepares for the future ship commissioning.

Event highlights include:

Meet and Greet with USS Beloit Crew: A chance to interact with the individuals who serve on the USS Beloit.

Games and Activities: Fun for the whole family, including face painting, balloon artists, yard games and a dunk tank.

Delicious Food: Free food will be provided by Geronimo Hospitality Group and the USS Beloit Commissioning Committee, while supplies last. Beer concessions will be open for purchase.

“This picnic is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate our local heroes while enjoying a day filled with entertainment and camaraderie,” said Sarah Lock, social chair for the USS Beloit Commissioning Committee. “We’re thrilled to host this event and look forward to seeing everyone there.”

USS Beloit Commissioning Committee Launches Fundraising Campaign; June 2024 The USS Beloit Commissioning Committee is beginning its work to celebrate the future commissioning of the USS Beloit. The launch of the committee and the fundraising campaign was announced Tuesday at Fairbanks Morse Defense.

While a date and location for the commissioning will be announced in the future by the U.S. Navy, work is underway locally in Beloit. Lead by the committee’s chair, Vice Admiral Dirk Debbink, U.S. Navy (retired), the committee is beginning to plan commissioning events, fundraising, ship artwork, crew gifts and more. The ship’s sponsor is Major General Marcia Anderson, U.S. Army (retired), a Beloit native with an outstanding legacy of military service.
